Email Marketing and Tracking Engine - Part 2

Email NewslettersIn my previous post, I introduced you to FIZ.ca, which provides an excellent platform for organizing and running email advertising campaigns. I have continued my experimentation with that website and found a few more very useful things for you to know about.

Things I covered in the previous posts largely relate to the functions of setting up the email list or integrating it, creating the design and CMS, and scheduling/sending the actual emails to your recipients.

On this post, I will concentrate more on what happens AFTER you’ve sent out your marketing emails. How you track your results is an important aspect of this drill, and can help you formulate a better understanding of how other people see your business.

  1. How many email addresses actually receive it? This is, of course, very basic - any email newsletter platform will provide this but I decided to show you anyhow.

  2. read trackHow many of them actually read your email?

This screenshot shows you a data page with a graph showing you how many of the recipients actually opened your email and read it, and how many times it was read in total. The following screen is merely a test screen so it doesn’t have much data, and the success rates show 50%. Expect much lower than 50% though, in real life. Below this, beyond my screenshot’s boundaries, you can also see the top 50 readers out of your list, as well as a static list of the people who actually read it.When you see your reading rates drop, here are some things to think about :Perhaps the title of the emails need to be more catchy? Or maybe the quality of your email list is not as good as you thought - is there a problem with the manner of subscription? Maybe a lot of these people did NOT want to subscribe but somehow got tricked into it? There could be many other factors …

  3. who clicked your linksDid people actually click links on your newsletter? And which ones? Did they forward these links to other people?

This screenshot shows you a similar graph showing you the link click statistics, and also shows you which links have been clicked so that you can analyze which pages were popular and which were not. And, once again, you can see the list of people who actually clicked, as well as a top 50 list!

These are the clients you want to call on the phone and follow up with! Also note that a similar tracking screen is provided for all email forwarders as well, if your newsletters have been forwarded to anybody else.

So, there you go. That’s the fiz.ca’s tracking system in a nutshell. Easy to use, functional, and accurate in its tracking - use it well to your advantage and it can provide to be very powerful.

good post Jeff, that’s awesome stuff. I was wondering how thats done. cause my server has a maximum limit on how many email addresses i can send stuff to at a time. Not to mention Outlook does not provide much of a good platform for it.

how much do they charge?
