Homelessness is a major problem in Vancouver, especially in Downtown Vancouver. They’re everywhere. Most of them are harmless and mentally disabled, but it is simply an unpleasant site. Call me prejudiced and snobby if you like, but Vancouver is supposed to be a nice clean city, and the mere sight of irresponsible, erratic, job-less, and homeless people piss me off and I don’t feel that they belong there. I feel that the value of our city is reduced significantly because of these folks. This is quite a major issue in …

I would like to challenge the very initiative that most Americans vouch for when it comes to supporting the Iraq war. Although many of us know that the Bush administration’s real reason for starting the war was the gas, and it was also initiated to assert more influence in the Middle East (because Israel was not enough) with military presence.
Let’s backtrack a little bit, and let’s assume for a while that the war actually was initiated in order to establish democracy and freedom in Iraq. I’ll tell you why that …

This might be a bit of a late reaction, but I still want to say this, because this is still a hot issue of debate as far as I’m concerned.
Couple of weeks ago, BC was hit by a series of major windstorms that caused plenty of damage. At one point, as many as 50,000 were living in the 17th century with no electricity. I am fortunate enough to live in a high-rise condo in the middle of downtown Vancouver, where the power lines are all underground, so I never suffer …

In this recent newspaper article, the Bank of Canada Governer David Dodge showed his support (although the statements were rather weak, if you ask me) for the Conservative Government’s decision to start taxing income trust funds. The tax regulation revolving the income trust funds were rather biased and could be viewed by some as unfair. But that’s not the point, I’m not talking about the validity of taxes. I’d like to point out a few things here that will raise your eyebrows!

On January 11th, China successfully blew up one of their old satellites that was orbiting some 500 miles above the surface of the earth. I perceive this as a great innovation in technology and a major milestone to bring equality in power among different nations.
I personally believe that for the better of the human race, we need more than 1 superpower, and I believe in an even distribution of power and influence. Of course this is an unrealistic goal, but I would really like to see more nations and powers …

In a press interview of George Bush last night on Sportsnet, he was commenting on some baseball player. Who that player was insignificant. But he said this.
“I made a career out of people underestimating me.”
No George, there is no underestimation. The criticisms are valid and factual.

Ah yes. Finally. Jeff touches the sensitive realm of politics. Yes, I’m brave enough to do it.
I want to point out the ironies of US President George W. Bush’s course of action to increase troop deployment in Iraq by over 20,000 heads. The House and the Senate are both preparing to stop this at all costs right now, but in a recent interview Bush said he would push through with it regardless. The full story is here.
So basically the US gov’t, and Bush’s administrations agenda all along has been to …
